Nicholas Underhay Another ripping album and the vocals are off the scale! Favorite track: Pelican.

Chip A beautiful mix of genres that is very well done and probably the best I've heard this year if I may say so. They are certainly worthy of support. Favorite track: Unbreakable.

After the awakening and arrival of The Horse, aka Azazael, on earth narrated in «The Holy Of Holies», «The Shining Son» tells how The Horse exercises its power and how it sows chaos towards the populations.

Here again we are talking about religion and its perdition. Indeed, the « Pelican » represents The Christ who feeds his little ones, aka the people. But the latter’s powers are weakened, its wings are damaged. He can no longer fly properly and get food to feed the starving people.

A two-way story for each song :

The Mother and Son (Artwork), symbol of the Weakened People.
The House, symbol of the World created by The Horse.
The Son, symbol of the new one, the Savior.

In an enchanting setting where beauty resides, The Horse is also presented here as a tyrant.

He’s the man of the house, he is presented as a great, powerful, fierce tyrant who sows anguish, anxiety, fear, sadness…

He imprisons his family in his madness.

He possesses and holds his wife with a rope around her neck. He takes her into his madness and transforms her into a dead-beast-human-being by making her wear the mask of the dead horse.

In the middle of this scene of family conflict, there is this child, symbol of hope. Unfortunately, he is here to take a position in the conflict. He begs The Horse to save his weak mother from violence and manipulation.

“The shining son” is not wearing the mask, he has a force fueled by anger. This being of light will wait for the tyrant to cross the line, The Horse will see the body of the child shine, The Horse will see its loss.

The flac version of this sounds great in my truck... not a crunch, clip or boom to be heard. That, in itself, gets this major points. This is a lovely combination of early Floyd, U2 and a few San Francisco bands from the '60s with a heavy dose of Helmet tossed in. It's definitely best of breed when it comes to modern psych stuff. Even without a Hammond B3, it gets an easy A+... rick-taylor

This is colossal. I’ve been enjoying these guys for years but this album is next level. They seemed to have found their stride & it’s a biggin’. I feel that they’re heading into the Groove/Rock Genre of Clutch but still carry that epic, larger-than-life sound you’d expect from Zeppelin or later era Soundgarden. Their sound is tighter than a fish’s ass (and that’s water tight) & whatever these guys are doing; I’m loving it. And…the vocals are so, so, so good! I’m excited for their next outing. Harry Harrison
